Apparently this knife was traditionally given to Japanese schoolchildren and carried by craftspeople in a variety of trades. (School kids don’t carry them anymore, don’t worry!) Hand-forged by the same company in the same way for over a million years, Nagao Seisakusho. 

The blades are forged from high-quality Aogami (“blue paper steel”), using a technique called Warikome in which the blue paper steel is sandwiched between two layers of softer steel. The resulting laminated blade is easy to sharpen but holds a good edge. 

Each comes with a Spartan Made hand-stamped, hand-sewn leather sheath made from a variety of our top shelf Italian and American leathers.
